Shop-bought shelves rarely fit an alcove properly, and a shelf that sags or pulls out of the wall is a bad shelf however good it looks. I'm Alex, a carpenter with 10 years on the tools, and I make shelving to measure from plywood and solid timber, then fix it level, on the right fixings for your wall type, and finished to suit the room.
These chunky timber shelves are a typical kitchen job: made from scratch, cut to fit the alcove and fixed on discreet brackets, giving useful storage without a full run of cupboards. I also make alcove shelving and floor-to-ceiling fitted shelving.

Common questions
How much does it cost to have shelves fitted?
A few shelves is often a quick job, and my rates start from £35 per hour with a one-hour minimum, or a fixed price for bigger jobs. Quotes are always free and there's no call-out charge.
Will shelves hold heavy items?
They will if they're made and fixed properly. I check what's behind the wall and use fixings to suit it, and I'll tell you honestly what a shelf can carry.
What areas do you cover?
Loughborough and roughly 10 miles around it: Shepshed, Quorn, Barrow upon Soar, Sileby, East Leake, Kegworth and the surrounding villages.
